I already have a Health Spending Account with another provider; how difficult is it to move to PreTax Health?

It is quite simple to move to PreTax Health from another HSA administrator, even in the middle of a benefit period.

If you are a small company, you may not have made much use yet of your former HSA. In such cases, there is often not much to the process -- simply follow this link to get started, and provide whatever information you have available.

For larger companies, the complete process is as follows:

  1. Let us know that you are moving from another provider. We'll ask you for some basic information, such as the dates of your current benefit period with your former provider (if you don't have this information, that's fine too). Simply follow this link to start this process of switching over.

Your PreTax Health Plan will typically be set up so that its first benefit period matches your current period with your former provider.

For example, if your benefit year started on 1 January, and you decide in June you want to move over, we will set up your benefit period to support claims going back to 1 January.

  2. Let your former provider know you are cancelling their plan. Advise your employees to start sending all their claims and receipts to the PreTax Health System. Since your new plan has been set up to have its first benefit period match that of your former provider, your employees will enjoy a seamless claim transition for all medical events pertaining to the current benefit period.

  3. Obtain a final report from your former provider that shows, for each employee, the new credit that was granted for the current period, any credit that might have been carried forward from the prior period, and the credit utilized during the current period. We will then apply the corresponding adjustments to your employees' credits on the PreTax Health system. Thereby the credits available to your employees under PreTax Health Plan will reflect the claims already made through your former provider, as well as the effect of any credit carry forward from former periods.
